Time management key for SME social media and blogging
Self-service marketing solutions provider VerticalResponse has created a new infographic which demonstrates the on-going difficulties of social media marketing for small businesses – particularly when it comes to time management. 43% of respondents stated that they spend 6 or more hours a week on social media, but a third of small business owners would like to spend less time on their social media efforts. The study also showed similar difficulties when it comes to blogging, with 16% spending more than 3 hours on every blog post they write.
Janine Popick, founder and CEO of VerticalResponse, commented on the research: “Our survey confirms that small businesses are understanding the value of social media. They’re spending more time doing it, and investing more money into it as a faster rate. But the extra work will likely lead to time management issues, especially for the small business owner who’s handling social media on top of all the other responsibilities of running a company.”
E-commerce now more popular than high street shopping
New research from Tealeaf has shown that UK shoppers are now more likely to use e-commerce to make a purchase than visit a high street store. Tealeaf’s study assessed a sample of 2071 adults, and found that 83% would make a purchase with the use of a laptop or desktop, whereas only 81% would take a trip to the store. It seems that e-commerce is becoming more integral to the daily life of the public, making it all the more imperative that retail businesses have an effective e-commerce website in order to capitalise on the popularity of the medium.
