80% of customers more inclined to buy from social brands
New research from Marketing Sciences, conducted on behalf of the IAB’s Social Media Council, has revealed than an impressive four out of five consumers would be more inclined to purchase from a brand more frequently after being exposed to its social media presence, and 83% of consumers would also be more likely to trial a brand’s product after seeing their social media efforts. The IAB estimates that for every £1 a brand spends on social media, they could generate a potential value of £3.34.
Email marketing ‘trigger words’ revealed
Using a random sample of 95,000 English-language campaigns over the last year, Adestra has isolated popular ‘trigger words’ for email subject lines, which can help to increase open rates and click-throughs. The word ‘sale’, for example, delivered +23.2% of opens, whilst the term ‘save’ only delivered +3.4%. Content based subject lines also did well in terms of open rate, with ‘news’ delivering +34.8%, and video delivering +18.5%.
Facebook rolls out graph search
It’s been in the works for a while, but this week Facebook finally began rolling out its new graph search function, starting with users whose accounts are set to US English. Graph search allows users to ask Facebook questions about their friends and get quick, simple answers, as a natural extension to the original news feed, to give users a more “efficient” experience. Whilst there is little word yet on how this will affect branded Facebook pages, it does suggest a shift in the way that everyday internet users will search for and engage with data and information.
