5 (more) quick fix blog topics
You may remember our post from a few weeks ago, which gave you a list of 5 quick fix blog topics you can use on days for those days when inspiration eludes you. Now we’re giving you even less of an excuse not to blog, because we’ve put together a list of 5 more!
- Beginner’s guides
There are plenty of start-ups, small businesses, and ultimately, people with less experience in your field, and content which might seem basic to you could be immensely helpful to them. Pick a topic or process relevant to your industry, and simplify it to make it more easily accessible. Remember, everyone has to start somewhere, and your blog post could help others to make that start.
- Case studies
Get in touch with your clients and see if they’re willing to put their name to a case study of the work you did for them. Not only does this make for an interesting blog post, it’s also an excellent promotional tool for your business. If you’ve worked in partnership, case studies can be mutually beneficial, as you can put one together for them as well.
Reviews of the latest products in your sector are certainly an excellent option, but they are not the be all and end all of your reviewing capabilities. Depending on your industry, you could review a website, a convention, a shopping experience, a restaurant, a movie, a hotel … we won’t bore you with every single idea under the sun, but you get the point! Reviews are also an excellent way to spark debate and conversation amongst your readers because whether they agree with you or not, they’ll certainly have an opinion to express.
- News and current affairs
If you want to establish yourself as a thought leader in your industry, it’s important to keep your finger on the pulse of news and current affairs in that area. Search news sites, other blogs, and daily digest and read up on the latest happenings in your sector. Google News in particular is an excellent resource, as it allows you to search for stories which contain relevant terms, and even gives you the option to create an email alert based on your keywords, so you can get the latest stories sent straight to your inbox.
Compilations are the perfect way to bring some genuinely useful backlinks to your blog and give your existing content a fresh lease of life. You can group the posts however you like, but straightforward titles like ‘5 posts about cupcakes’ or ‘Articles every SME should read’ tend to be most effective. Look through your archive and see what sticks out – you could have a ready-made blog post in minutes.
